I can't help but feel this looks very mysterious and magical, like straight from a fairy tale or dream. I think it has to do with both the use of blurry/sharp areas as well as the angle you chose to shoot this from. In a way it seems very uplifting and hopeful, despite the black/white conversion. That being said, I would love to see a color version of this as well. The sun peeking through the leaves is a really nice touch and adds to the overall positive aura of the picture; it also serves as a nice focal point. Well done!
The first impression is a very good one. It seems as if you knew what you were doing there. Although the overexposure of the sky is a problem here, it's not easy to prevent, mainly only with HDR but it sure is worth looking into.
I like the black an white feeling and the blur but in my opinion it is to strong a the very border and should increase linearly rather then exponentially for smoother transition. Also I'd prefer a little smaller upload size, with my 1650x1080 I don't have to scroll but some others may also it is hard not to lose the overview since there are so many details. A very nice photo you shot there, reminds me that I need to get back to Muir next time when I fly to the states.
